Funding opportunity must be maximised to increase tourism across Ballina and North Mayo

Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo, and party spokesperson for rural development, Dara Calleary, has urged Mayo County Council to apply to Fáilte Ireland’s new major capital growth funding programme which has put out a call for applications.   The funding scheme, Platforms for Growth, is worth €150m and aimed at developing and improving major visitor attractions. The scheme will run from 2019 to 2022.   Deputy Calleary commented, “It is vital Mayo County Council maximise their application. Health care services undermined as budgets cut in Belmullet – Calleary Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo, Dara Calleary, has said that budget cuts which will see no agency staff employed at Belmullet District Hospital and Áras Deirbhle completely undermine the services provided and go against the government’s ambitions for health care. A memorandum from May 31st details changes which will see agency staff no longer engaged in services at both health facilities and temporary contracts will not be renewed.
