Just one Mayo school project earmarked for 2012

 
Mayo Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has welcomed the announcement that the proposed extension and refurbishment of Our Lady’s Secondary School in Belmullet has been given the go-ahead to proceed to construction next year.
“I am delighted for the management, staff, students and parents of Our Lady’s Secondary School who have worked hard to secure this development.”
“Since being elected in 2007 I have been working closely with the school principal and management to move this project forward and I am delighted for everyone involved that the project is now being progressed to construction stage after the great progress that was made with the application in past number of years,” he said.
“Last year we received a commitment from the then Minister for Education Mary Coughlan that the project would advance in 2011 with tender documents being completed and I am pleased that the present Minister has now allowed the project to move to tender stage and construction in 2012,” he said.
“While I am pleased for Our Lady’s, I am disappointed that this is the only project in Mayo that is included in next year’s building plan. Considering that we have a Mayo Taoiseach, a Mayo Minister and two Government backbench TDs I am very disappointed that no other school
