€8,000 for Bangor Erris Community Alert
Bangor Erris Community Alert has been allocated €7,930 in funding under the Government’s Community Support for Older People Scheme, according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Labour Affairs, Dara Calleary TD.
Welcoming the funding, Minister Calleary said: “This funding has been allocated by the Minister for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy John Curran TD.”
“The Community Support for Older People Scheme encourages and assists the community’s support for older people by the means of a community-based grant to improve the safety and security of its older members.”
“Funding is available to people aged 65 or older towards the costs of installation of monitored personal alarms, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, external lighting and other ancillary items of physical security equipment.”
“This is a very welcome funding boost for the Bangor Erris Community Alert and I want to wish the group continued success in its work,” concluded Minister Dara Calleary.
