Calleary welcomes School Capital Programme announcement

Mayo Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary has welcomed the Department of Education’s Capital Schools Programme which was announced this week with good news for a number of Mayo primary and post-primary schools.

Deputy Calleary said, “I warmly welcome the Department’s announcement that 9 Mayo schools are included on Capital Schools Programme 2016-2021 list. Many of these schools have been campaigning for a number of years for new, much-needed school accommodation and I am delighted that they can now see light at the end of the tunnel.

” I wish to pay tribute to the various Boards of Management, School Principals, staff and parents for their ongoing hard work and diligent efforts in securing these announcements.

“It is crucially important now that these projects advance through the planning and tendering process in a swift, efficient manner and that local employment can be attained from the developments and I wish to re-affirm my support for these school communities in their efforts to move to construction stage.”
